IQAC - Rights To Information

The Right to Information Act intends to set out the practical regime of Right to Information for citizens to enable them to access the information under the control of public authority in order to promote transparency and accountability in the working of such authority.

Section 2 (h) of the Act defines “public authority” as any authority or body or institution of self- governance established or constituted by or under the constitution or by law made by the Parliament or any state legislature or by notification issued by the appropriate government. It includes body owned, controlled or substantially financed by the government.

In accordance with the provisions contained in section 2(j) of the Act, Right to Information means right to information accessible under this Act which is held by or under control of a public authority.

All Universities and Colleges established by law made by Parliament or by State Legislature or by notification by the appropriate Government or owned, controlled or substantially financed directlyor indirectly by funds provided by the Government shall come within the meaning of a Public Authority under this Act.

In pursuance of the Act, an Officer has been designated as Public Information Officer (PIO) and he/she shall perform the duties and responsibilities as engaged under the act. Necessary steps for implementation of various provisions include proactive disclosure of certain information. Such information shall be made available to the public at large through the website.

Statutory Declaration On RTI Act

Section 4(1) (b) of RTI Act 2005 covers the statutory declaration of Don Bosco College of Arts and Science, Keela Eral Website. It covers all the rules and regulations which are implemented by Government of Tamil Nadu.

Our College, which is a Self Financing Institution, affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. The College has a Governing Body which is approved by the The Trichy Don Bosco Society. It runs as per rules and regulations made by the same society as and when needed. Besides this the College has Discipline and student Welfare Committee and Grievance and Redressal Committee to maintain all types of disciplines in the campus.

All the Cells / Committees of the institution are under Statutory Bodies and comes under section 4(1)(b) of RTI Act 2005. The applications under the RTI Act along with a postal order /demand draft for Rs.10.00 may be sent in favour of “The Principal, St. Teresa Arts and Science College for Women”.
